Greene Street Chair by Gaetano Pesce

Designed by Italian architect Gaetano Pesce and produced by Vitra in 1984, the Greene Street Chair is a striking example of postmodern design. Named after Pesce’s New York studio, each chair is hand-cast in black resin, making every piece one-of-a-kind. Chrome-plated steel legs contrast with the sculptural seat, giving it a playful yet elegant presence.

This collectible chair challenges conventional manufacturing by embracing imperfections and variation, all of which are hallmarks of Pesce’s “industrial originals” philosophy. Originally made in limited numbers, early matte resin editions, especially those with armrests, are increasingly rare.
