TBWA/Chiat/Day Locker Door Wall Relief ("Banana") by Gaetano Pesce
A sculpted banana runs diagonally across this yellow-green panel. The form is simple and direct, using familiar imagery to break from uniformity and support the humorous interpretations of "quintessential" work-place motifs.
These sculptural panels were locker doors for employees at TBWA/Chiat/Day’s New York office in 1994. With no assigned desks or offices, employees stored their belongings in these vibrant, acrylic painted lockers—each one entirely unique. The panels embodied Gaetano Pesce’s belief in diversity and imperfection, turning everyday storage into a bold statement of individuality within a fluid, paperless workplace.
