Edith Sevigny-Martel is a self-taught, Montreal-based ceramicist. Her body of work consists of large vessels constructed through pinch and coiling methods of hand-building. A slower building process, hand-building mirrors Sevigny-Martel’s intuitive, explorational approach to artmaking. The work is biographically based in the duality of the female experience, embracing both the unsettling, yet alluring aspects that evoke the concept of the feminine.
