What's on at Kalei
Alien Waste | Lionel Jadot
Alien Waste explores the hidden journeys of discarded objects and the complex systems that move waste across borders. Drawing on found materials sourced across Europe, Lionel Jadot transforms abandoned items into sculptural works that carry traces of their past lives while imagining new futures.
Through acts of reclamation and reinvention, the exhibition challenges conventional ideas of value, belonging, and visibility, asking us to reconsider what we choose to discard and what we choose to see. In Jadot’s hands, waste becomes a vehicle for storytelling, where forgotten objects are given a renewed presence and the possibility of a second life.

Shapes Are Spells: Samantha McCurdy
Samantha McCurdy is a Los Angeles–based artist whose gravity-defying sculptural paintings blend woodworking, latex, and paint into minimal yet enigmatic forms that push beyond the canvas. Working with stretchable fabric, found objects, and precise geometric shapes, she creates surfaces where small disruptions—a puncture, a piercing, a sanded edge—carry outsized power. A graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, McCurdy has exhibited internationally and runs the curatorial art spaceThat That.
