La Mamma Lounge Chair and Ottoman by Gaetano Pesce

La Mamma lounge chair (UP5) and ottoman (UP6), designed by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia, are crafted from expanded polyurethane foam and upholstered in elastic synthetic jersey. The chair was created to mirror the human form, with curves and contours. The silver upholstery was a special anniversary edition, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the chair's creation, and features a personalized serial number on the underside.

Often referred to as La Mamma, Big Mama, or Donna, these pieces are part of the collections at the Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
