Kurt blankett by Lionel Jadot
This work carries the memory of time and place, stitched into a single surface. I assembled fragments of 19th century linen, salvaged from the French Alps, sewing them together to form a vast skin of history. Each part bears traces of use and wear, carrying the silent labor of those who lived with it before. On this surface I intervened with acrylic paint, not to erase its past, but to enter into dialogue with it. The painted gestures shift the textile from utility into the realm of image, where cloth becomes landscape, and memory becomes abstraction. It is a unique piece, not repeatable, because the fabric itself is unrepeatable. The seams hold together a century of life, now transformed into one singular presence.
